Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5

Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5 (MEIF5) was launched following the successful investment of its predecessor funds, MEIF1, MEIF2, MEIF3 and MEIF4 and to capitalise on a strong pipeline of opportunities in the European infrastructure market. MEIF5 had its first and final close in September 2016 with total commitments of €4.0 billion, and was significantly oversubscribed.

The investment strategy for MEIF5 is consistent with that deployed successfully for MIRA’s predecessor European infrastructure funds, focused on investment opportunities in utilities, transportation, communications infrastructure and renewable energy throughout the region. MEIF5’s investment capacity will also be supported by significant limited partner co-investment commitments.

Investments made by MEIF5 to date:

  • Compania Logistica de Hidrocarburos

Owner and operator of the largest refined oil pipeline network and oil storage capacity in Spain, with additional pipeline operation and storage operations in the UK and Ireland

  • EP Infrastructure (EPIF)

A portfolio of regulated and contracted infrastructure assets in Slovakia and the Czech Republic

  • Offshore Wind Co

A diversified portfolio of six operating and two under-construction UK offshore wind assets, acquired as part of Macquarie Group’s acquisition of the Green Investment Group

  • Race Bank Offshore Wind Farm

One of the UK’s largest offshore wind farms, currently under construction, with a potential maximum capacity of up to 580MW, enough to power over 500,000 UK homes annually
